Inspections

In order to issue or reissue the yacht’s Seaworthines certificate the following inspections are required:

  • general inspection - concerns yachts that were built without supervision, yachts classified before by the classifying institutions or marine administration as yachts for, and used before on, inland waters
  • periodic inspection - concerns yachts already having [...] or other document from the last technical inspection
  • occasional inspection - after-breakdown inspections and other occasional inspections

Required documents differ in accordance with the type of yacht. Sea vessels are divided into two categories: commercial and recreational yachts, as set forth in article 5 point 7 of the Act on marine safety dated August 18, 2011 (Law Journal No 228, point 1368).

Recreational yachts –vessels designed or used exclusively for sport or recreation, other than commercial yachts.

Recreational yachts should have:

  • Registration document (issued by PYA)
  • Seaworthines certificate (issued inter alia by supervisors of PYA Marine Technical Team)
  • Yacht’s mobile equipment list (issued inter alia by supervisors of PYA Marine Technical Team)

Commercial yachts – vessels designed for sports and leisure activities, used for carrying no more than 12 passengers in the course of business operations such as:

  • carrying passengers,
  • commercial training cruises,
  • commercial renting of the vessel for catching marine organisms on the basis of a sport fishing permit issued under the provisions of fishing laws
  • commercial wet-lease of the vessel
  • any other commercial renting of the vessel.

Commercial yachts must have:

  • Registration document (issued by PYA)
  • Seaworthines certificate (issued inter alia by supervisors of PYA Marine Technical Team)
  • Yacht’s mobile equipment list (issued inter alia by supervisors of PYA Marine Technical Team)
  • Safety certificate (issued by Maritime Office)
